$120,000-$150,000
The posted salary range represents the anticipated compensation for this position. Data Governance Lead IV

We're looking for a talented Data Governance Lead IV to join our team supporting a complex Federal Government customer in Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Falls Church area). This individual will provide senior-level technical leadership for enterprise data governance and information management initiatives. You will help establish the frameworks, standards, processes, and practices needed to ensure organizational data is consistently defined, governed, trusted, protected, and accessible.

- Onsite – Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Falls Church area)
Clearance:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain Government security clearance.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise data governance and information management programs.
- Establish governance frameworks, policies, standards, procedures, and operating models for enterprise data management.
- Provide senior-level expertise in metadata management, data quality, data lineage, data stewardship, data classification, and data ownership.
- Lead the development and implementation of enterprise data dictionaries, metadata repositories, data catalogs, and lineage solutions.
- Establish enterprise standards for data definitions, metadata, business rules, data quality, and stewardship.
- Lead data quality initiatives, including development of quality standards, metrics, monitoring processes, and remediation strategies.
- Develop strategies for improving data consistency, accuracy, accessibility, discoverability, and usability across enterprise systems.
- Facilitate collaboration among data owners, data stewards, architects, engineers, analysts, developers, and business stakeholders.
- Evaluate existing data governance practices and recommend improvements to governance frameworks, processes, tools, and organizational structures.
- Provide technical and strategic guidance on data governance requirements for new and existing systems.
- Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise data lineage and information flow documentation.
- Establish governance requirements for data integration, reporting, analytics, and enterprise data platforms.
- Develop governance metrics and reporting to measure data quality, compliance, adoption, and program effectiveness.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data governance and information management personnel.
- Review and evaluate governance tools and technologies and make recommendations based on organizational requirements.
- Ensure data governance practices align with applicable security, privacy, compliance, and organizational requirements.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in data governance, data management, information management, data quality, metadata management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise data governance initiatives or programs.
- Extensive experience with data governance frameworks, policies, standards, and operating models.
- Advanced knowledge of metadata management, data quality, data lineage, data dictionaries, data catalogs, and data stewardship.
- Experience establishing enterprise data definitions, ownership, stewardship, classification, and business rules.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing data quality strategies, metrics, and remediation processes.
- Experience working across technical and business organizations to establish and enforce data governance standards.
- Ability to analyze complex organizational and technical data management challenges and develop practical, sustainable solutions.
- Experience developing governance documentation, standards, procedures, and implementation strategies.
- Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction and mentorship to other data governance professionals.
- Ability to independently lead complex initiatives and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing enterprise data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or similar methodologies.
- Experience with enterprise data governance and catalog platforms such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar technologies.
- Experience developing enterprise metadata strategies and standards.
- Experience implementing enterprise-wide data quality programs.
- Experience with data architecture, data modeling, master data management (MDM), and enterprise information architecture.
- Experience developing data governance KPIs, metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting.
- Experience with data privacy, security, classification, and regulatory/compliance requirements.
- Experience governing data across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Experience with SQL, relational databases, data warehouses, and enterprise data platforms.
- Experience supporting data modernization or enterprise data transformation initiatives.
- Experience leading cross-functional data governance teams or working groups.
- Experience supporting U.S. government or federal contracting programs.
- Active or previously held U.S. government security clearance.
- Relevant professional certifications such as CDMP, DCAM, or equivalent.
