We're looking for a talented Data Engineer II to join our team supporting a complex Federal Government customer in Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Falls Church area). This individual will support enterprise data infrastructure, database operations, data integration, and data pipeline activities. The position will work with SQL, databases, ETL/ELT processes, and related data technologies to ensure reliable data processing and availability. The ideal candidate is a strong problem solver who can troubleshoot technical issues, work across multiple systems, and collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.

Clearance:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain Government security clearance.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support the administration, maintenance, and day-to-day operation of enterprise data infrastructure and database environments.
- Develop, maintain, and execute SQL queries to retrieve, validate, transform, and analyze data.
- Support the development, maintenance, and monitoring of ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
- Assist with data integration activities across databases, applications, and other enterprise systems.
- Monitor data processes and infrastructure to identify performance issues, errors, and potential data quality concerns.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to databases, data pipelines, data transfers, and data processing.
- Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure data is accurate, complete, and available to downstream systems and users.
- Document data processes, technical procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting activities.
- Work with developers, analysts, database administrators, and other technical teams to resolve data-related issues and support business requirements.
- Assist with performance tuning, optimization, and improvements to data processing and database operations.
- Support scheduled data loads, recurring processing activities, and operational data management tasks.
- Follow established security, configuration management, change management, and data governance practices.
- Participate in testing, implementation, and troubleshooting of enhancements to data infrastructure and integration processes.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, data integration, ETL/ELT, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong SQL development and database skills.
- Experience with relational databases and enterprise data environments.
- Experience developing, maintaining, or troubleshooting ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
- Understanding of data integration concepts and system-to-system data exchange.
- Experience troubleshooting data processing, database, and pipeline issues.
- Ability to analyze technical problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Experience working with structured data and data transformation processes.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a technical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar relational database platforms.
- Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS or Azure.
- Experience with data integration or ETL tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, or similar technologies.
- Experience developing or consuming REST APIs.
- Experience with data warehousing and dimensional data modeling.
- Experience with PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Experience with enterprise data governance and data quality practices.
- Experience supporting large-scale or complex enterprise environments.
- Experience supporting U.S. government or federal contracting environments.
- Active or previously held U.S. government security clearance.

Salary Range
$75,000-$105,000
The posted salary range represents the anticipated compensation for this position. Final compensation will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications, years of directly relevant experience, education, certifications, security clearance, contract requirements, and other business considerations.
