Data Governance Analyst II

We're looking for a talented Data Governance Analyst II to join our team supporting a complex Federal Government customer in Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Falls Church area). This individual will support enterprise data governance and information management activities that help ensure organizational data is accurate, well-defined, discoverable, and managed consistently. You will work with technical and business teams to document data, maintain metadata, support data quality initiatives, and help establish consistent data management practices.

Work Location:

  • Onsite – Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Falls Church area)

Clearance:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain Government security clearance.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of data governance processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining enterprise data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data documentation.
  • Collect, document, and maintain information about data sources, data elements, definitions, and business rules.
  • Support data quality activities, including data validation, issue identification, and documentation.
  • Assist with documenting data lineage and data flows across systems and applications.
  • Work with data owners, data stewards, analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to gather and validate data-related information.
  • Support the development and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Assist with data cataloging and classification activities.
  • Identify inconsistencies in data definitions, metadata, and documentation and assist with resolution.
  • Maintain documentation related to data ownership, stewardship, definitions, and data quality requirements.
  • Support data governance meetings, working groups, and related activities.
  • Assist with tracking and resolving data quality and governance issues.
  • Follow established data security, privacy, governance, and information management practices.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in data governance, data management, information management, data quality, business analysis, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of fundamental data governance and data management concepts.
  • Experience working with data dictionaries, metadata, data definitions, or data documentation.
  • Familiarity with data quality concepts and processes.
  • Ability to document and organize complex information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data lineage, data catalogs, metadata management, or data stewardship.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks or methodologies.
  • Experience with tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Microsoft Purview, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with SQL or relational databases.
  • Experience with data quality tools or processes.
  • Experience documenting business rules and data requirements.
  • Experience supporting enterprise or complex data environments.
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
  • Experience supporting U.S. government or federal contracting programs.
  • Active or previously held U.S. government security clearance.

Salary Range
$80,000-$100,000
The posted salary range represents the anticipated compensation for this position. Final compensation will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications, years of directly relevant experience, education, certifications, security clearance, contract requirements, and other business considerations.
