We have an immediate hybrid Junior Splunk Engineerposition available in Washington, DC or Columbia, SC. If you join our team in this role, you will focus on maintaining Splunk operations, creating dashboards and reports, and troubleshooting issues. Under the guidance of the Network Operations IT Program Manager, you will assist in the daily operations and administration of Splunk deployment.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
Splunk Administration: Perform daily administrative tasks, including monitoring and managing Splunk datasets, storage, and automated backups. Address manual backups and monitor storage usage across environments.
Knowledgebase Maintenance: Update and create Knowledgebase (KB) articles to support team needs and ensure up-to-date documentation.
Dashboard and Reporting Development: Create and update Splunk resources such as saved searches, visualizations, alerts, and dashboards to meet customer and team requirements.
User Support and Troubleshooting: Provide first-level support to Splunk users, addressing issues and assisting with Splunk-related requirements.
Collaboration with Senior Engineers: Work closely with the Senior Splunk Engineer and Task Lead to align on priorities, receive guidance, and participate in task meetings.
Component Monitoring and Maintenance: Oversee Splunk components (search heads, indexers, forwarders, etc.) to ensure uptime and maintain secure, accessible operations.
RHEL and Windows Server Management: Secure and manage Splunk platform servers, applying patches and managing access controls.
Data Integration and Validation: Assist with incorporating various data sources (e.g., syslog, scripted input, DB inputs), validating data, and training IT Managers on new dashboard enhancements.
Weekly Reporting: Provide weekly reports on task progress, including completed and pending items.
Required Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
At least 2 years of experience as a Splunk administrator/engineer in an enterprise environment.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
Splunk Certifications.
Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
