Data Integration Engineer III

We're looking for a talented Data Integration Engineer III to join our team supporting a complex Federal Government customer in Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Falls Church area). This individual will independently design and develop data integration solutions that connect enterprise systems and enable reliable movement and transformation of data. You will work across databases, APIs, ETL/ELT processes, and data pipelines to solve complex integration challenges.

Work Location:

  • Onsite – Northern Virginia (Alexandria/Falls Church area)

Clearance:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain Government security clearance.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise data integration solutions.
  • Develop and optimize complex ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
  • Design integrations between databases, applications, APIs, and other enterprise systems.
  • Develop advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, transformations, and data processing solutions.
  • Design and implement data transformation and mapping processes across multiple systems.
  • Monitor integration environments and proactively identify performance, reliability, and data quality issues.
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement solutions for complex integration and pipeline failures.
  • Support data migration, consolidation, and modernization initiatives.
  • Develop and execute integration testing and data validation processes.
  • Optimize data pipelines and integration processes for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Document integration architectures, data flows, mappings, interfaces, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with developers, data engineers, database administrators, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders.
  • Contribute to integration standards, development practices, and technical documentation.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge sharing to less-experienced team members.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in data integration, data engineering, ETL/ELT, database development, software development, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced experience using SQL to query, transform, and manipulate data.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines.
  • Experience integrating data across multiple databases, applications, APIs, or enterprise systems.
  • Experience with data transformation, mapping, validation, and reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex data integration and pipeline issues.
  • Experience performing root-cause analysis and implementing sustainable solutions.
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing data integration processes for performance and reliability.
  • Experience developing technical documentation, data mappings, data flows, and integration procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple integration projects and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or other enterprise database platforms.
  • Advanced experience with SSIS, Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, or similar ETL/integration technologies.
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs, web services, or other system interfaces.
  • Experience with Python, PowerShell, Java, or other programming/scripting languages.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud data integration services.
  • Experience with data warehouses, data lakes, or lakehouse environments.
  • Experience with enterprise data architecture and data modeling.
  • Experience with data migration and modernization programs.
  • Experience with source control, CI/CD, DevOps, and automated deployment practices.
  • Experience with data quality and data governance processes.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, messaging systems, or real-time data integration.
  • Experience supporting complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting U.S. government or federal contracting programs.
  • Active or previously held U.S. government security clearance.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud, data engineering, database, or integration technologies.

Salary Range
$105,000-$135,000
The posted salary range represents the anticipated compensation for this position. Final compensation will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications, years of directly relevant experience, education, certifications, security clearance, contract requirements, and other business considerations.
